He holds a degree in Medicine and General Surgery from the University of Barcelona (1979). He completed his residency (MIR) in Internal Medicine at the Joan XXIII University Hospital in Tarragona between 1981 and 1985. He worked as an internist at Hospital Gran Vía in Castellón (1985–1986) and at Hospital de Figueres (1987–1990). In 1991, he joined Hospital de Sant Pau i Santa Tecla in Tarragona as Head of the Internal Medicine Department. In 1994, he was appointed Medical Director. In the following years, in addition to hospital care in Tarragona, the organization expanded its scope to include primary care services and initiated socio-healthcare activities. In 1997, he was appointed General Manager, a position he has held to the present day. In 2000, the institution’s healthcare activity included a hospital in Tarragona, six primary care areas, and two socio-healthcare centers, leading to the creation of the Xarxa Sanitària i Social de Santa Tecla. The organization further expanded with the opening of Hospital del Vendrell in 2006. Over time, and through agreements with the Government of Catalonia, its activity also grew to include social services such as nursing homes, day care centers, and disability care centers, among others.

He holds a degree in Computer Engineering, a diploma in data governance and management, and is officially certified in Fundamental Data Spaces (IDSA). His career includes the design and implementation of solutions based on European standards for sovereign data exchanges, as well as participation in innovation projects focused on decentralised infrastructures, advanced analytics and process simulation. He has played an active role in the development of the Navarre Tourism Data Space, a project led by NASERTIC for the Government of Navarre, where he has helped define a ‘Connector as a Service’ model to facilitate the participation of all tourism stakeholders and ensure data sovereignty. He has also contributed to the design and development of both the connector interface (which centralises the publication, search and management of datasets and exchange agreements) and the data space control panel. This dashboard provides a comprehensive and up-to-date view of the ecosystem, facilitating the analysis of data space usage.
