Antonio Alcolea is Deputy Director-General for Programmes, Governance and Promotion at the Directorate-General for Data, which forms part of the State Secretariat for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence (Ministry for Digital Transformation and the Civil Service). His responsibilities include the development of public policies to promote the data economy across all productive sectors and society, with the aim of fostering innovation and competitiveness through the intensive use of data and, in particular, the deployment of sectoral data spaces. He holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Madrid and has been a career civil servant (Senior ICT Corps) since 2003. He has over 30 years of professional experience in the telecommunications sector and in the digital economy and society, in both the public and private sectors.

Maribel Garcimartín is a specialist in digital transformation, data governance and data spaces, with over 25 years’ professional experience leading data, business intelligence and digital strategy initiatives in both the private and public sectors. Throughout her career, she has been involved in defining strategies, developing value propositions and managing complex projects aimed at promoting digital ecosystems and using data as a driver of innovation and competitiveness. Her experience combines strategic vision, team leadership and the coordination of cross-cutting initiatives, collaborating with companies, public administrations and technology providers on projects related to the data economy, interoperability and secure information sharing. His work focuses particularly on the connection between technology, collaboration and value creation, contributing to the development of initiatives linked to the data economy and sector-specific data spaces. He has specialised training in business management, technological innovation, project management and data governance.

As head of the Spanish Hub of the International Data Spaces Association (IDSA) and director of the technical secretariat of BAIDATA, he drives collaboration and the development of innovative solutions in this area.

Maia Nahmod is a Senior Business Consultant in the Health and Social Care sector at Altia. A qualified psychologist specialising in clinical psychology, she has a solid track record spanning more than 15 years, combining healthcare provision and project management in the hospital sector with teaching and research in the academic field. Having subsequently specialised in Medical Informatics and Digital Health, she now excels in the development of innovation and digital transformation projects in healthcare. At Altia, she has established herself as an expert in data spaces within the social and healthcare ecosystem, leading the EDAISS project (Integrated Social and Healthcare Data Space), a secure and interoperable data space designed to integrate social, healthcare and open data in order to extract strategic value, generating insights and key indicators to optimise decision-making and patient care.

Mamen Álvarez Zubizarreta holds a degree in Pedagogy from the University of Deusto (1991), a Master’s degree in Speech Therapy from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (2003), and specialized training as an Early Intervention Expert from the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija (2014). She has built most of her professional career in the fields of pedagogy and speech therapy, working in her own practice from 1991 to 2024. During this time, she combined clinical practice with teaching and supervising university students in Psychopedagogy and Speech Therapy at several universities across Spain. Between 2022 and 2024, she worked as a speech therapist at the Leza Hospital, part of the Rioja Alavesa Integrated Health Organization (OSI Rioja Alavesa), where she also coordinated the team responsible for the Dysphagia Protocol implemented in June 2024. Since 2024, she has served as Director of Social and Healthcare Care at the Basque Government’s Department of Health, leading strategies for integrated care coordination aimed at improving care continuity and person-centered healthcare. In 2025, she also joined the faculty of the Master’s in Public Health at the University of the Basque Country (EHU/UPV).

He holds a degree in Medicine and General Surgery from the University of Barcelona (1979). He completed his residency (MIR) in Internal Medicine at the Joan XXIII University Hospital in Tarragona between 1981 and 1985. He worked as an internist at Hospital Gran Vía in Castellón (1985–1986) and at Hospital de Figueres (1987–1990). In 1991, he joined Hospital de Sant Pau i Santa Tecla in Tarragona as Head of the Internal Medicine Department. In 1994, he was appointed Medical Director. In the following years, in addition to hospital care in Tarragona, the organization expanded its scope to include primary care services and initiated socio-healthcare activities. In 1997, he was appointed General Manager, a position he has held to the present day. In 2000, the institution’s healthcare activity included a hospital in Tarragona, six primary care areas, and two socio-healthcare centers, leading to the creation of the Xarxa Sanitària i Social de Santa Tecla. The organization further expanded with the opening of Hospital del Vendrell in 2006. Over time, and through agreements with the Government of Catalonia, its activity also grew to include social services such as nursing homes, day care centers, and disability care centers, among others.

Alfredo Alday is a Computer Engineering graduate from the University of Deusto, with specializations in Social and Healthcare Telecare and in Innovation Management and Leadership from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. He worked for 13 years in software consulting and engineering, holding management and leadership roles in projects related to electronic health records, radiological imaging digitalization, and speech recognition systems for clinical report management. In 2010, he joined the Basque Government to set up a Multichannel Healthcare Service Center. From 2011 to 2019, he led the transformation of the Basque Public Telecare Service towards a more digital, personalized, and integrated social and healthcare model. Since 2019, as Co-Director at ALDA2U Transforming Care, he has led a team focused on designing and supporting public sector strategies in healthcare, social services, and integrated care systems. His work focuses on developing new models of integrated care through seamless, person-centered interoperability.

With a solid technical background in architecture and extensive experience in managing R&D&I projects and proposals, throughout his professional career he has developed the ability to integrate different areas of expertise in order to respond effectively and efficiently to the challenges of R&D&I consultancy. He has had the opportunity to work in both small businesses and multinationals, as well as in non-profit organisations. This experience has enabled him to gain first-hand insight into the different needs of each type of organisation and to adapt his working approach accordingly.

Jon Becker is a sales and business development professional with international experience in technology and industrial sectors. He is currently part of Cofinity-X, where he works to drive digital solutions and strategic partnerships within the European business ecosystem. He has a strong background in management and international business, complemented by experience in sales management, client development and the creation of new business opportunities. Throughout his career, he has been recognised for his results-oriented approach, his entrepreneurial mindset and his ability to build strong relationships with clients and strategic partners.

Thorsten Hülsmann has over 15 years’ experience leading non-profit organisations dedicated to transferring innovative technologies and research findings to the business sector. As Co-CEO of Digital Hub Management and Digital Hub Logistics, he coordinates networks, initiatives and projects focused on digitalisation, digital technologies and data, driving their application in sectors such as logistics and manufacturing. He serves as Co-CEO and CFO of the International Data Spaces Association (IDSA) and the Open Logistics Foundation, organisations dedicated to promoting the secure and sovereign exchange of data and open innovation in the logistics sector. His expertise spans areas such as Industry 4.0, the data economy, data spaces, innovation network management, knowledge transfer and foundation management, with the aim of bridging the gap between research and business to generate economic and social impact through digital transformation.

Shanawaz Sheik is a professional with extensive experience in project management, business development, and product marketing within the technology and industrial sectors. Throughout his career, he has held various leadership roles in international companies such as NXP Semiconductors, Wipro, and Microchip Technology, leading global initiatives in software, systems, and product development. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (India) and an MBA in General Management from the HHL Leipzig Graduate School of Management. His expertise focuses on managing complex programs, leading multicultural teams, and coordinating international technology innovation projects. He currently works in the technology sector, with a strong focus on product management, business strategy, and the development of innovative solutions in global environments.

Eduardo Martínez Gil is a political and computer scientist. He has a multidisciplinary background that has led him to the world of public administration and smart cities, where he has been working for over 12 years on the digital transformation of cities and regions. Currently, in addition to teaching at several universities (UB, UPC, USAL), he is the director responsible at NTT DATA for the Smart Cities, Digital Twins and Satellite Observation division for Iberia and Latin America, as well as being the director of the Balearic Islands’ Digital Twin and Data Space project.

A Technical Engineer and graduate in Telecommunications (Sound and Image), he is currently studying for a Master’s degree in Intelligent Systems, specialising in IoT. He also has training in home automation and building automation, as well as in air operations (ETOPS). He has built his career across various sectors (infrastructure, aeronautics, ports and energy), working on projects in telecommunications, security and innovation. He has held roles in site management and large-scale infrastructure projects, flight operations, information and communications systems, and digital transformation initiatives using technologies such as IoT and Big Data.

Begoña Laibarra is the Managing Director of SQS, a company specialising in software quality, validation and verification for industrial and regulated environments. She has extensive experience in the fields of testing, QA and digital transformation, driving projects related to Industry 4.0, critical systems and technological innovation. She is actively involved in initiatives relating to data spaces, artificial intelligence and digital technologies applied to industry.

He is currently exploring how distributed data spaces and foundational models can be integrated into real-world geospatial intelligence operating systems.

A telecommunications engineer specialising in digitalisation projects. Adrián is currently working on several data space projects as a technical contributor, focusing on their design, construction and commissioning, as well as the development of associated products and services. In recent years, Adrián has participated in several GAIA-X and UNE working groups for the development and drafting of standards and guidelines that promote interoperability and technical quality assurance in the sector, such as UNE 0087 or the Data Space Reference Architecture.

His career includes the design and implementation of solutions based on European standards for sovereign data exchanges, as well as participation in innovation projects focused on decentralised infrastructures, advanced analytics and process simulation. He has played an active role in the development of the Navarre Tourism Data Space, a project led by NASERTIC for the Government of Navarre, where he has helped define a ‘Connector as a Service’ model to facilitate the participation of all tourism stakeholders and ensure data sovereignty. He has also contributed to the design and development of both the connector interface (which centralises the publication, search and management of datasets and exchange agreements) and the data space control panel. This dashboard provides a comprehensive and up-to-date view of the ecosystem, facilitating the analysis of data space usage.
